The 2025 Canadian Grand Prix proved to be a dramatic and action-packed race at Montreal’s iconic Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Fans were treated to key moments that could shape the rest of the season, with intense battles and major shifts in the championship standings.

George Russell securing pole position and converting it into a flawless victory — his first win of the season and a much-needed triumph for Mercedes. His rookie teammate Kimi Antonelli, delivered an impressive drive to finish on the podium for the first time, becoming the third-youngest F1 driver ever to do so. This marked Mercedes’ first double podium of the season, a strong return for the team.

Drama unfolded on lap 67 as Lando Norris attempted an overtake on Oscar Piastri, making contact with the rear of his McLaren teammate’s car. The incident affected both drivers' pace, costing Norris valuable points in the championship fight.

Meanwhile, Max Verstappen delivered a solid drive to finish P2 in Canada. With that result, Verstappen is now within striking distance of second place in the Drivers' Championship. If he wins the upcoming Austria Grand Prix, he will move up to P2 in the standings making the title battle even more intense heading into the second half of the season.

Speculation is also swirling around Mercedes’ 2026 driver lineup. While Kimi is expected to be retained, George Russell has reportedly not yet signed a new contract. Rumors suggest team boss Toto Wolff may be eyeing Max Verstappen, who has a clause in his Red Bull contract allowing him to leave under certain conditions.

The Canadian Grand Prix delivered on all fronts, showcasing fierce racing. With the event now confirmed to remain on the calendar until 2035, fans can look forward to many more unforgettable moments at Montreal’s circuit in the years to come. The race also marked the fourth different driver to win this season, highlighting just how competitive the championship has become.
