Rolling Meadows Is On The Move?

Olivia Woods

Since launching in 2021, Rolling Meadows has drawn 7,000 to 10,000 music lovers annually to the stunning Boneline Winery in Waipara almost an hour north of Canterbury. But for 2025,the festival is moving closer to the heart of Christchurch

This year’s event will be held at Bottle Lake Forest Park on Waitikiri Drive, just a 20-minute drive from Christchurch CBD. The new location has 62 hectares of lush pine forest with shade, easy public transport access, and heaps of space to roam, discover, sing and dance around.

Organisers say the move is all about accessibility — making it easier for Christchurch locals to join the fun without the long haul or pricey transport.

But for many festival goers , part of the magic has always been the road trip: packing up the car with mates, blasting tunes, and feeling the buzz build as you head toward the site. That sense of freedom and anticipation — the journey itself — is a big part of the experience. So, the question is: will it feel the same now that it is now  that much closer for the locals?

While the distance has changed, the vibe won’t. The new location still offers a full camping setup, forest surroundings, and the same iconic energy that Rolling Meadow is known for. It's about who you’re with, the music, and the moments — whether you’re coming from across the country or across town.

And that’s not all for the music lovers — a brand new Campers Night has  been added for  December 29th, giving campers an exclusive first night of live talented kiwi performances on the Rolling meadow Stage. This means the festival will now run from December 29–31, with the first night dedicated to campers only (no day passes).

Expect massive vibes, an epic local lineup, and a fresh new atmosphere under the pines. Whether you're glamping, pitching a tent, or catching a ride in, Rolling Meadows 2025 is on its way to be a good one.
